Through the VTC in Ndola MMM is training only a small percentage of the people who could be assisted through this program. To expand the effectiveness of this work MMM has taken the training program to the community and in particular to women in need.

The focus of this project is to provide employment opportunities for women, many of whom live in poor settlement areas on the outskirts of the city and are those most in need of assistance. Women will learn simple income earning skills such as tailoring, craft and computer.

Poverty and a lack of employment opportunities have brought a feeling of hopelessness for many people. Generally the women will do almost anything to provide for their family and in many cases their extended family.

By taking the Vocational Training Program to the community, many more of these women and some men will be able to receive vocational training, enabling them to be lifted above their present situation and provide for their families.

These Training Program Centres are also Community Centres and can also be used by partner organizations providing community health, voluntary AIDS treatment programs and general community activities. They are managed and staffed by trained Zambians, most of whom are currently working at the MMM Vocational Training Centre.

Experienced pastoral care women also work with them to build into their lives inter-personal relationships, communication and family support as well as teaching other life skills in a caring Christian environment.
